Commissioner Dombrovskis discusses EU–Türkiye economic relations with NTV in Istanbul

European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification Valdis Dombrovskis was in Istanbul for the EU–Türkiye High-Level Economic Dialogue.
 

 

During his visit, Commissioner Dombrovskis gave an interview to NTV, where he discussed the state of EU–Türkiye economic relations and the next steps in cooperation. The interview covered the Customs Union and ongoing work to improve its practical functioning, Türkiye’s economic reform programme and disinflation process, and Türkiye’s role as a strategic partner in strengthening trade resilience in a changing regional and global environment.

Commissioner Dombrovskis underlined that the Customs Union remains a strong foundation for economic cooperation, with bilateral trade reaching a record level of around €217 billion last year. He also welcomed Türkiye’s economic reform programme and the disinflation process, noting the importance of a stable macroeconomic foundation for financial stability and economic growth.
