This film tells the story of Dante Alighieri as narrated by Giovanni Boccaccio, who, in 1350, embarked on a quest to find Dante's daughter, Antonia Alighieri, to deliver a symbolic sum of money as compensation for the hardships her family endured. Boccaccio revisits the pivotal moments of Dante's life, presenting the tale of one of history's most esteemed and recognized poets.

Pupi Avati
Pupi Avati was born in Bologna, Italy. He is a film director, producer, and screenwriter. In the 1960s, he gave up on his promising veterinary education for a career in the film industry. He has directed many award-winning films with A.M.A, a production company he founded with Gianni Minervini and his brother Antonio Avati. He has participated in many genres with varying degrees of success. He is best known by Giallo genre fans for The House with Laughing Windows (1976) which he co-wrote the script with Paolo Pasolini, Zeder (1983), and The 120 Days of Sodom (1975).
