The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 27 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organizations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.
The EU Delegation to the Türkiye, Ankara works in close coordination with the Embassies and Consulates of the 27 EU Member States. We are a fully-fledged diplomatic mission and represent the European Union in dealings with the Türkiye government in areas that are part of the EU’s remit.
We offer
The post of ‘Driver’ (Local Agent Group V) in the Delegation’s Administration Section. The team consists of 27 people and there are occasional atypical working hours.
Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation, and on the changes of these needs. The successful candidate will serve under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Administration Section to perform the tasks of Driver in the Delegation.
Following main tasks and duties are currently required:
+ PHYSICAL TRANSPORT (driver activity) - Driver and maintenance of the vehicle, transport of persons
- To ensure the daily transportation of all staff and visitors
- Transport designated staff to meetings, receptions, airports within Ankara
- Transport staff on mission within Türkiye when required
- To transport goods as required.
- Ensure that the Delegation vehicles are clean and kept maintained.
- Oversee maintenance of service cars
+ OPERATIONAL and ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT and RESOURCES
- Prepare outgoing mail for post office, Embassies and Turkish institutions and ensure delivery
- To perform other indoor administrative tasks that may be required by the HoA.
- Assist in protocol and custom duties
- General assistance to the Adm. Section and the HoD secretariat (distribution of mail, photo copying etc).
- Assistance with moving goods and furniture
- "Within the framework of the Staff Regulation, to carry out tasks linked to the job description as instructed by his/her superior(s)."
The base salary will depend on relevant and verified employment experience, typically starting from EUR 1,031.00. There is a competitive benefits package, subject to certain conditions, including personal leave days and public holidays, health insurances and a retirement savings plan.
The expected start date will be March 2025.
Minimum requirements / eligibility criteria (necessary for the application to be considered)
- High School diploma and driver license
- Minimum 5 years experience as a driver
- Good knowledge of Embassies and institutions in Ankara/Türkiye
- Computer literate
- Excellent command of Turkish, both written and spoken (C1)
- Good command of English is required (B1)
- Right to residence and work in Türkiye
- medical fitness to carry out the tasks assigned
- completion of military service for male applicants
- good standing as citizen/resident
Assets / selection criteria (basis for awarding points to select the best applicant).
- Knowledge of vehicle mechanics (advantage)
• Working knowledge of another EU official language would be an asset

The process
