The EU Common Agricultural Policy:
The main aim of the EU Common Agricultural Policy is to support farmers and improve agricultural productivity in order for consumers to have a stable supply of affordable food. To achieve these goals a set of measures called Common Market Organization (CMO) has been established in the EU, in order to regulate the agricultural subsectors.
The project:
The project "Development of a Strategy for Alignment with Common Market Organisation (CMO) Requirements" aims at developing a strategy for gradual adoption of the EU legislation on CMO. Thus, it will contribute to Türkiye's accession by supporting the alignment with the EU legislation in agriculture. The CMO builds on the rules for the common market in goods and services with specific policy tools that help improving the functioning of agricultural markets.
In order to achieve those objectives, existing administrative framework has been assessed, a strategy for the adoption of CMO legislation has been drafted, and several trainings on the principles of the system have taken place along with awareness raising activities among the main stakeholders.
"The project we are closing today will contribute to Türkiye's alignment to the EU Common Agricultural Policy and will facilitate further trade exchanges in agriculture" said the Head of EU Delegation, Ambassador Christian Berger, on this occasion.
The total budget of the project was EUR 962,068; the European Union contribution was EUR 721,551, i.e. 75% of the overall budget.
