How do you deal with images of climate disasters far from your home? Can we reclaim the impact of these images so that they trigger awareness and action? An investigation into the emotional connection between the Western audience and those affected by the climate crisis on the island of Tuvalu.

Dylan Werkman

Born in 1993, Dylan Werkman is a Dutch filmmaker exploring the boundaries between fiction and documentary, using nature, poetry, and archival footage as tools for reflection. His documentary Seven Days Alone (2019) was selected for 2Doc/VPRO's Makers van Morgen program. His graduation documentary A View from Above (2020) won the Tuschinski Award for Best Student Film in the Netherlands and received international acclaim with nominations at various festivals. The Last Waves of Eugène (2022) was nominated for the Golden Calf award at the Netherlands Film Festival and had its international premiere at the Cairo International Film Festival.
