Press Photographs of the Year 2020
Of the 6,000 competing entries in this year’s 35th Press Photographs of the Year Competition being organized by the Turkish Association of Photo Journalists, 34 photographs received awards.
An image by Depo Photo’s Savas Onur SEN of a starving stray dog amidst the barren landscape near Sihke lake in Van’s Ipekyolu district took home Press Photograph of the Year.
The EU Green Deal Special Award being funded by the European Union went to Oğuz Yeter for his photograph of the Northern Woodlands of Istanbul, which are being decimated due to quarrying.
Erdem Sahin, a photo journalist for the European Pressphoto Agency, won special mention in the same category for his photograph of Istanbul's Guzelce Aqueduct, a structure designed by Mimar Sinan that is situated on one arm of the Alibeykoy Dam.
