Statement From the Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey Ambassador Nikolaus MEYER LANDRUT

“Today, together with my European Union colleagues, I met the Ukrainian Ambassador Vasyl Bodnar in Turkey. 

We expressed our strong and full solidarity with Ukraine and its people in face of the unacceptable military attack by Russia on Ukraine. 

We reiterated to the Ukrainian Ambassador that the EU is firmly supporting Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and that Russia’s aggression is in violation of international law. 

Ukrainian Ambassador Vasyl Bodnar briefed us on the latest developments on the ground, including on first military and civilian casualties, as well as on the Ukrainian contacts with Turkish authorities. 

Tonight The European Council will meet to decide on the European reactions to this Russian aggression. 

We stand with the people of Ukraine.”
