The European Union (EU) is an international organization consisting of 27 European Member States. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organisations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations or offices, which have a similar function to those of an embassy. The EU Office in Taipei represents the European Union in Taiwan. The various responsibilities of the EU Office include fostering relations between the EU and Taiwan.

We offer

We offer a Temporary post of Secretary in the Trade Section for an estimated period of five months, planned starting date would be from around 1 June 2024. Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Office. The successful candidate will serve as technical and support staff to the Trade Section under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of the Trade Section. The post offered is Temporary Local Agent – Group III based in Taipei. We offer a competitive position in an international environment. The salary of the Temporary Local Agent Group III Step 1 is 59 282 TWD.

Selection Criteria

Minimum requirements/eligibility criteria (necessary for the application to be considered):

1. Medically fit to perform the required duties;
2. Enjoys civil rights and permits for employment under local law;
3. Education level - at least high school
4. Work experience with administrative duties of at least 6 months.
5. Has an excellent knowledge of English as well as Mandarin both orally and in writing;
6. Has excellent computer skills in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
7. Compulsory requirements mentioned in the Job Description

Assets/selection criteria (the basis for awarding points to select the best applicant):

1. Experience in working for the EU and/or other international representations/agencies.
2. Experience in document management
3. Other mentioned in the Job Description

The process

After the deadline for applications, the eligible applications will be admitted to the Selection by the Committee set up for this purpose.

Depending on the number of applications received, the shortlisting of candidates will be based on an assessment of the information provided in the cover letter and CV. The best candidates will be invited to an interview and possible test.
