The consortium of the EU Rural development program in Zarafshon organized a “Cleaning campaign Action” in the Fann mountains – Haftkul
The Consortium of the EU-funded project “Enhancing Water and Natural Resources Management and Protection in upper catchments of Zarafshon Watershed” has organized another Cleaning campaign Action. This year, the Italian organization Cesvi - implementing partner of the Welthungerhilfe Consortium - together with the Ecological department of Panjakent city took the lead in the Campaign.
The cleaning concentrated mainly on the banks of the 2nd and 3rd lake, as well as on the area around the 7th lake.
The organizers were supported by a big group of volunteers from the English Access Micro scholarship program of Panjakent and by locals from the nearby villages of Rashnai poyon and Soi Marghuzor. Furthermore, representatives of the Sanitary Epidemiology Station (SES) and the Zarafshon Tourism Board, representatives of Shing jamoat and the TV “Simo va Sado” in Panjakent participated in the action.
Unfortunately, being one of the most touristic hot spots in the Fann mountains, the areas around these lakes suffer from careless visitors, as the garbage from camping or picnicking is often left behind instead of taken back to the city. Therefore, earlier in the frame of the above mentioned project, Cesvi in cooperation with the villages of Rashnai poyon and Sari Sangpul had already installed garbage bins. This cleaning now campaign also involved trainings on correct garbage disposal.
The organizers and participants are hoping that it will be possible to raise awareness among the population and especially among the visitors of the area.
