The Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan invites applications for the position of a Project Manager
We are
The European Union (EU) is a political and economic partnership between 27 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organisations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy. The EU Delegation to Tajikistan ensures the representation of the European Union in the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as the follow-up of bilateral relations in the areas of political, economic, trade and external assistance cooperation.
We offer
We offer a post of Project Manager in the Cooperation section of the EU Delegation. Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific job function as project manager – job functions will be assigned upon recruitment and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the Delegation. The successful candidate will ensure, under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of section, effective implementation of cooperation activities and conformity with applicable project management regulation, in the area of human rights (European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights - EIDHR), Non-State Actors, democracy, rule of law and civil society development. Projects are implemented in accordance with strategic policy documents and guidelines, multi-annual programming documents, criteria of project cycle management as well as other relevant EU policies. Project manager will also be expected to contribute to policy analysis in the relevant sector, cooperate closely with other stakeholders and contribute to external communication and representation of the EU delegation within the remits of his/her area of expertise.
Working conditions:
Working time: 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday
Location: 74 Adhamov street, Dushanbe city
Holiday entitlement: 24 days of annual leave and public holidays as fixed by the Delegation and the local legislation. Any leave should be consulted with and agreed by the Superior.
Post grading: Group I, the starting basic salary is 1771 Eur.

Selection Criteria
Minimum Requirements:
- Civil rights and permits for employment under local law;
- University Degree (at least 4 years) in Law, Politics, Sociology, International relations, Religion of similar;
- At least 2 years of experience, preferably with a multi-national organisation, of which 1 years preferably in a similar position.
- Excellent knowledge of English and Russian;
- Computer skills and sound knowledge of electronic information handling (MS Office or equivalent, E-mail Client, Internet browser)
- Medically fit to perform the required duties;
The following will be considered an asset:
- Working knowledge of Tajik language
- Commitment to quality, speed and accuracy in work;
- Nationality of the Republic of Tajikistan, or possession of a work permit.

The procedure
After the deadline for applications, the applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee set up for this purpose. The Selection Committee will prepare a short-list of candidates who are considered to be the most suitable for the post on the basis of a preliminary assessment of the information provided in their application letter and the supporting documents. The short-listed candidates will be invited to an assessment phase which may include a written test and an interview if necessary – during this phase, the Selection Committee will assess the suitability of the candidates for the post.
The candidates who have not been short-listed will not be contacted individually; however, the Delegation will use the same means of publication as for this Vacancy Notice to inform the remaining candidates once the recruitment procedure has been completed and that a candidate has (or has not) been recruited.
