Business Environment Growth and Innovation programme

The programme supports the national efforts to improve the business environment in line with Tanzania’s Blueprint for regulatory reform.

ACTIVITIES

  • Review of regulations, procedures and government agencies' mandates.
  • Simplify the business-regulatory regime to avoid duplication and overlaps of mandates.
  • Conduct ex-ante and ex-post regulatory impact assessments to inform regulatory reform proposals.
  • Develop proposals for regulatory reforms and broker by-in from relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct stakeholder consultations through Public Private Dialogue (PPD) between government entities, academia, research institutions, private sector organizations, companies, and other non-state actors.
  • Produce knowledge products to ensure the dialogue between relevant stakeholders is evidence based.
  • Roll-out one-stop public service centres for businesses in strategically selected districts.
  • Establish an effective monitoring and evaluation framework to ensure smooth implementation of the Blueprint Reforms.

  • Improved regulatory framework.
  • Assessment scheme for regulatory and policy reforms is improved.
  • Improved ICT infrastructure including for business related services.
  • Legislation/regulations in 24 areas reviewed to harmonize mandates, licenses and fees.
  • Departments of Industry, Trade and Investment in Local Governments established.
  • New methodology and framework for National Doing Business report.
  • 9 one-stop centers in Local Governments established.
  • Tanzania Electronic Investment Window (TEIW) established.
