The EU supports the empowerment of persons with disabilities and youth participation to drive climate action in Thailand’s southern border provinces

The team visited the Joint Learning Center for Empowering Persons with Disabilities at the Kanchanaphisek Pattani Technical College in Pattani Province to observe the progress of the “MODE-SBP: Driving Equality for Persons with Disabilities” project.
The project is promoting disability equality by supporting wheelchair and assistive technology repair services, improving accessible transport solutions, and a focus on independent living, accessibility and community participation.
The great work of the project is implemented by the Foundation for Empowering Persons with Disabilities (FEPD), Inclusive Learning Center on Disabilities (ILCD) and Minority Rights Group (MRG).
The EU remains committed to advancing disability inclusion and contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, as demonstrated through its support for initiatives that empower persons with disabilities and promote inclusive development.

The EU also supports local communities and young people in Pattani River areas through the CINTALAM project.
The team witnessed the signing of Hukam Pakat, a community agreement led by the Pattani River Protection Network in Krong Pinang, Yala province. This initiative brings together local leaders, youth representatives and community networks to care for and protect the river and the natural resources that sustain local livelihoods and culture.
Driven by young people, Hukam Pakat reflects a shared commitment of the local community to protect aquatic plants, riverside vegetation and river ecosystems, prevent pollution, and preserve the biodiversity of the Pattani River for future generations.
The EU remains committed to supporting youth participation, climate action and sustainable natural resource management in Thailand’s Southern Border Provinces.
The CINTALAM project is implemented by Save the Children Thailand, the Southern Green Foundation and Pattani River Protection Network.

The Delegation of the European Union to Thailand team together with Save the Children and the Southern Green Foundation, visited Thamavitya Foundation School in Yala Province and met with the TVM4CC environmental youth club, whose members are playing an inspiring role in advancing environmental protection in their community.
Thamavitya Foundation School is one of the partner organisations of the CINTALAM project, which promotes the role of young people in responding to climate change in creative and sustainable ways.
