OPR Capacity Building Project Successfully Concluded

09.11.2021

November 9th, 2021:  Today, EU Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, H.E. Peter Cavendish was pleased to join Mr Moonilal Lalchan, Chairman and Procurement Regulator, Office of Procurement Regulation of Trinidad and Tobago and his staff to celebrate the conclusion of an EU supported technical assistance project, which included training in advanced procurement and technical editing.

The training was conducted by the Dutch firm,  Ecorys, an international policy research and consultancy company, on behalf of the European Union, at a cost of EUR161,700 (approx. TT$1.3M).

At today's event Ambassador Cavendish handed over a copy of the project's technical report to the OPR and handed out certificates of completion to the training participants.

Mr Lalchan lauded the successful completion of the training and the invaluable knowledge passed on to staff and stakeholders.

The European Union has long been partnering with the TT Government on procurement reform.  In 2015, after partial proclamation of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Act, the EU funded a workshop for officers from Ministries and state agencies across the country to assist them with the transition. Trinidad and Tobago was the first of six countries in the region at that time to benefit from this training.
