The Kocaeli Chamber of Industry describes the European Union (EU) supported project as a model of hope for Türkiye’s regions affected by the earthquakes of February 2023. The project helps people with disability to find work and integrate back into the local community. One of the key supporters of this venture says that its success should be replicated in the south-east.

In a repurposed warehouse in Istanbul, creativity meets sustainability in the most inspiring way. The Circular Makerspace, born from the EU-funded Pop-Machina project, has transformed an idle space into a vibrant hub where waste is no longer discarded but reimagined as raw material for innovation.

“The floods come here often. The water rises and the land disappears. Sometimes the bridges disappear under the current, and you can't get to the villages. The animals don't stand a chance,” says Mehmet Güzey, resident of Edirne.

On 12 October 2025, the new Entry/Exit System (EES) will be launched at the external borders of 29 European countries. The system will be introduced gradually during a six-month transition period and will be fully operational from 10 April 2026. During this time, passports will continue to be stamped, while the electronic registration system is phased in at border crossing points.
