Global progress to end child labour has stalled for the first time in 20 years. One in ten children in the world are victims of child labour, and the number is growing. Social protection is key to providing an environment to keep children away from this reality and the EU continues working with its international partners to this end.

The award, which was presented during a ceremony on 1st June at the residence of the Ambassador of Belgium in Kampala, is given annually by the European Union and Norway to recognise an outstanding contribution by a human rights defender in Uganda.

In partnership with the European Union, the Uganda Development Bank yesterday announced a special call for eligible businesses in the tourism sector to apply for and receive up to Shs1 billion in grants and soft loan with flexible terms aligned to the current needs of the sector.
