“I am glad to be back in unbroken Kharkiv. One of the strongest examples of the city’s resilience is the underground school located in a metro station, where children can continue learning safely despite constant attacks. Kharkiv reminds us once again that even in the most difficult circumstances, life goes on. The European Union will continue to stand by the city and its people,” said EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarína Mathernová.
Together with partners, including the Kharkiv City Council, UNICEF, with financial support from the European Union, is helping ensure that children have access to in-person education. This includes establishing safe learning spaces, providing catch-up classes, and delivering psychosocial support.
