#DontForgetYemen - Famine and Human Rights Violations in Yemen

28.05.2021

With the conflict persisting and Yemen now on the brink of the largest famine crisis, the objective of this event is to put the spotlight on the dire humanitarian situation in the country. The seminar will also draw attention to violations of IHL that continue to exacerbate the already dire situation on the ground.

Yemen represents one of the worst humanitarian crisis in modern times. Over 80% of the population, including 12 million children, are dependent on humanitarian assistance. Over 400.000 children are suffering from severe malnutrition and risk of starvation.

The worsening humanitarian situation is intrinsically linked to the escalation of the conflict, including blockades, sieges and violations of IHL committed by the parties to the conflict. As a result, humanitarian access has been severely hampered.

The event will bring together UN and EU representatives, as well as prominent international and Yemeni civil society activist.
