EU Delegation in Geneva Receives Special Honorary Award for 11 Years of Social Media Excellence

On Tuesday, 3 February 2026, the EU Delegation to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva was presented with a special honorary Geneva Engage Award, recognising 11 years of outstanding social media and digital engagement. This milestone celebrates over a decade of consistent excellence in connecting with global audiences online.

The Geneva Engage Awards, organised by the Geneva Internet Platform (GIP, under DiploFoundation) with the support of the Republic and Canton of Geneva, annually highlight the most effective digital communication efforts among International Geneva actors. They assess how organisations engage audiences through social media, ensure web relevance and accessibility, and implement innovative digital initiatives across three categories: international organisations, non-governmental organisations, and permanent representations.

The 11th edition of the awards, held at the DiploFoundation under the slogan #Engage2Connect, focused on how artificial intelligence is transforming outreach and access to information. The event highlighted the shift from a “search web” to an “answer web,” exploring how organisations can remain trusted sources as users increasingly rely on AI-powered tools. Participants also engaged in a “knowledge bazaar” featuring practical insights on AI, data, accessibility, and digital interconnection.

Over the past years, the EU Delegation has received several times the first prize among the category Permanent Missions. For this 11th edition the organisers decided to hand out a special honorary mention to the EU Delegation alongside the World Health Organisation, the UN Refugee Agency and the World Economic Forum.

“These organisations have consistently set the gold standard for digital outreach in Geneva, winning multiple times over the past decade. While they continue to demonstrate world-class engagement, their sustained excellence serves as a powerful nudge and inspiration for the entire ecosystem.” DiploFoundation
