EU statement
Chair,
I speak on behalf of the European Union and its Member States.
The candidate countries North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Ukraine, Republic of Moldova and Georgia, the EFTA countries Iceland and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, as well as Switzerland and the United Kingdom align themselves with this statement.
-
We align ourselves with the IMEC statement.
-
We share and support the ILO’s vision for more effective, innovative and agile development cooperation.
-
Development cooperation should be anchored in the ILO’s constitutional mandate, prioritizing activities that leverage the ILO’s comparative advantage and avoid duplication with other UN entities or activities that fall outside its mandate.
-
We believe that the ILO’s Development Cooperation Strategy for 2026-29 will bring us a step closer to realising that vision.
-
We therefore support the point for decision.
Thank you, Chair.
-
North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Albania continue to be part of the Stabilisation and Association Process.
