Team Europe Runs for Freedom, Equality, and Democracy at the Course de L’Escalade 2025

This weekend, Geneva hosted one of its most iconic events, the  Course de l’Escalade. The Escalade is a two-day celebration featuring a variety of races that bring together thousands of runners from Switzerland and abroad, all taking part in a unique mix of sport and community spirit.

This year, the EU Delegation in Geneva rallied over 60 participants from all EU member state delegations to run together as #TeamEurope. From ambassadors to interns, everyone took part, showing that Team Europe’s spirit extends beyond the office and comes alive on the streets of the city.

L’Escalade is a historic event that celebrates Geneva’s rich heritage, and this year’s edition attracted a record-breaking over 60,000 participants, making it the largest turnout in the race’s history. For Team Europe, the race was not only an opportunity to stay active but also a moment to embody and celebrate EU values by running under the banner of freedom, equality, and democracy.

This year, Team Europe ran the 5 km race through Geneva’s historic city centre. L’Escalade is famous for its lively atmosphere, with hundreds of spectators cheering on the runners and live music and performances along the route, keeping the energy high throughout the race.

We hope all our participants enjoyed this iconic event and felt the same pride and excitement that made L’Escalade such a memorable experience. We look forward to returning next year to run again as #TeamEurope, celebrating friendship, unity, and the shared values that bring Europe together.
