WHO - EU Statement at the opening of the Working Group on Sustainable Financing
Au nom de l'UE et de ses 27 États membres, permettez-nous de commencer par exprimer notre entière solidarité avec l'Ukraine et le peuple ukrainien.
L'UE condamne dans les termes les plus fermes l'agression militaire non provoquée et injustifiée de la Russie contre l'Ukraine, qui porte gravement atteinte à la vie, à la santé et au bien-être d'innombrables enfants et adultes, en contradiction avec ce que nous, États membres de l'Organisation mondiale de la santé, nous sommes engagés à garantir pour la gens du monde. L'UE condamne fermement les informations faisant état d'attaques contre des établissements de santé et des agents de santé en Ukraine confirmées par l'OMS, dont la plus récente dans un hôpital pédiatrique de Mariupol. Face à cette crise sans précédent, l'UE appelle à rechercher des solutions pacifiques pour mettre fin à cette guerre insensée.
Concernant le groupe de travail sur le financement durable, il a fait des progrès considérables et a eu des discussions très importantes. Nous reconnaissons la volonté des États Membres de trouver un terrain d'entente et de concilier les diverses positions sur cet important point de l'ordre du jour. Nous attendons avec impatience notre discussion au sein du groupe de travail et restons déterminés à trouver un consensus qui permette de renforcer l'OMS.
On behalf of the EU and its 27 Member States, allow us to start by expressing our full solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
The EU condemns in the strongest possible terms Russia's unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Ukraine, which seriously affects the lives, health and well being of countless children and adults, contradicting what we as Member States of the World Health Organisation have committed to ensure for the people of the world. The EU strongly condemn reports of attacks on health facilities and health workers in Ukraine confirmed by WHO, including the more recent on a pediatric hospital in Mariupol. In the face of this unprecedented crises the EU calls to seek peaceful solutions to end the senseless war.
On the Working Group on Sustainable Financing, it has made considerable progress and has had very important discussions.
We recognize the willingness of Member States to find common ground and accommodate the various positions under this important agenda item. We are looking forward to our discussion in the Working Group and w remain committed in finding consensus that allows strengthening the WHO.
