Ambassador Martin Selmayr with the EU at FAO Council this week
This week, the Council of the UN‘s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is in session in Rome. On the agenda of the meetings presided by the Independent Chairperson of the Council (ICC), Mina Rizk: Global food security challenges and drivers, notably the situation in Gaza and the impact of Russia‘s war of aggression against Ukraine on global food security; FAO‘s emergency interventions in crisis settings, especially in Sudan; the review of FAO‘s fitness for purpose and of potential future reforms; and the election of six Members of the Executive Board of WFP.
Together with the strong team of EUDEL Rome and the great colleagues from TeamEuropeRome and the Danish Council presidency, Martin Selmayr will represent the EU (a member of FAO alongside EU Member States) as its Ambassador at this Council session and work together with my 194 colleague Ambassadors for constructive multilateral solutions.
