On 19 October 2026, the European Union Commissioner responsible for trade and economic security, interinstitutional relations and transparency, Maros Sefcovic, will sign an ambitious Association Agreement with San Marino and Andorra in Brussels.

The EU, San Marino and Andorra share common values and work closely together at the UN and in other multilateral fora. Our Association Agreement will integrate both countries into our single market and many EU policies. Both countries already have the euro as their currency.

To honour this special moment in our partnership, EU Heads of Missions met yesterday evening in San Marino with Luca Beccari, San Marino‘s Secretary of State for Foreign and Political Affairs, and Imma Tor Faus, the Foreign Minister of Andorra. The next step towards the application and implementation of our Association Agreement was discussed and how we can further deepen our close partnership.

It is true that the world has become more insecure, fragmented and conflictual. But this is a strong reason for the European Union to team up even more with our friends, partners and close neighbours.
