Yesterday Ambassador Martin Selmayr had a great exchange with Team Serbia and many colleagues from all regions at the meeting of the Group of Friends on Bioeconomy for Sustainable Food and Agriculture held at FAO, that was co-chaired by Brazil and the European Union.

Group of Friends are informal, cross-regional and Member-led initiatives at the UN which aim at inserting new policy momentum to multilateral cooperation, while building on the technical expertise of the relevant UN Organisation. Since 2025, we work with more than 40 FAO Members on exchanging best practices on the bioeconomy, comparing bioeconomy strategies and assessing data, metrics and indicators. Step by step, we are developing a common vision on the bioeconomy and on promoting global multistakeholder partnerships.

Ambassador Selmayr was very grateful to all friends of the bioeconomy and the great experts from FAO for their insights, the good exchange and the common ambition to arrive at more convergence on the bioeconomy.
