Ambassador Martin Selmayr hosted this week at Villa Europa, the HL event organised together with the EU’s International Partnerships, to present the final Progress Report of our Action Plan for Nutrition launched in 2014. The meeting allowed for a fruitful discussion on the results and lessons learnt with partner countries from all regions of the world. The large and active participation to the event provided contributions and helpful suggestions for the future.

Since 2014, 7.2 million cases of stunting of children were averted in EU-supported partner countries, reflecting progress achieved alongside national governments and other partners. The EU committed a further EUR 2.7 billion in 2024–2025, representing 79% of the EU’s EUR 3.4 billion Nutrition for Growth pledge for 2024–2027.

For the EU, promoting access to healthy diets is an integral part of our human rights approach. It is at the centre of our work for global food security and of the many partnerships we are progressively agreeing under the EU‘s Global Gateway.
