Mariupolis (2016) by Mantas Kvedaravicius

A man repairs his fishing net and goes out on the bridge. Two trams collide: nobody is hurt and the cables are repaired the same day. A small concert is held for the factory workers and a violinist's heartfelt performance brings them to tears. Bombs fall into the sea, no one notices. Daily life is defined by bomb threats in Mariupol, a city in Ukraine located east of Crimea and once populated by Greeks. It is a visually powerful homage to a city in crisis, dedicated to its poets and shoemakers.
