Meeting of EU Heads of Missions to the UN

The EU is one of the largest contributors to the United Nations. Because we believe in and work for effective, reformed and strengthened multilateralism. At our EU Heads of Missions meeting in Rome this week, Ambassadors discussed their further work with the three Rome-based UN Organizations FAO, WFP and IFAD, drawing inspiration from the ongoing UN General Assembly High-Level week in New York in which the EU leadership is taking a very active part. 

The urgent need to address the serious consequences of the current escalation in the Black Sea for global food security was on top of our agenda. We see an important role here for strong, efficient and swift cooperation between FAO, WFP, IFAD and other UN agencies to prepare all measures possible to mitigate the foreseeable food crisis and to assist international diplomatic efforts to restore freedom of navigation - in the Black Sea and elsewhere.
