Ambassador Martin Selmayr had the pleasure to welcome this week his friend the famous mathematician Cedric Villani. Professor Villani visited Villa Europa, the diplomatic seat of the European Union in Rome. He is a member of the distinguished Pontifical Academy of Sciences and, together with Ambassador Selmayr, is a member of the International Advisory Board of the European Forum Alpbach.
They discussed the opportunities and risks of Artificial Intelligence and the need for a human-centred approach, as advocated by Pope Leo XIV in his encyclica “Magnifica Humanitas” and in the EU’s AI Act.
