“Reforming Private Pensions” conference – A look back

On 13 March 2025, Europe House hosted a panel discussion on “Reforming Private Pensions: Securing People’s Retirement and Supporting the Economy”.

The event brought together policymakers, industry experts, and thought leaders to examine the role of pensions in investing in productive assets.

A few conclusions

The conversation, held under Chatham House rules, emphasised the role of governance, regulatory frameworks, and cultural shifts in facilitating this transition.

With many European corporates predominantly financed through private markets, panellists identified this as a key area for growth. Diversification was recognised as an essential strategy for local economic development, and the discussion underscored that value for money in pensions extends beyond low costs. A broad perspective of the supply chain was required, considering the roles of asset managers, project structures, and insurers overseeing pension portfolios.

A special thank you to our esteemed speakers and our partner, New Financial, for contributing to the discussion.
