Call for Proposals: EU-UK Think-Tanks engagement

The European Commission has launched the EU–UK Think-Tanks Engagement initiative to strengthen EU-UK relations, promote mutual understanding, and advance the EU’s policy priorities in the UK and globally.

Grantees will engage in collaborative research, public engagement, policy advocacy, capacity-building and develop enduring cross-border networks and communities of practice.

The specific objectives of this call for proposals are: 

1. Enhance the knowledge, understanding and perception of the EU and key EU positions and policies among audiences in the UK by supporting engagement between influential European and UK think tanks.
2. Reinforce the EU’s long-term engagement with influential EU and UK think tanks on topics of relevance for the EU and UK relationship and enhance EU policymakers' understanding of emerging and complex global issues.

The priorities and expected results of this call for proposals are:

1. Structured exchanges, intellectual debates, dialogues and systemic collaboration involving both EU and UK think tanks are established and maintained;
2. Regular engagement of EU policy makers with think tanks is promoted, a network of EU and UK think tanks is formed and research is being jointly undertaken.
3. Expert views regarding current and future EU-UK relations advancing a better mutual understanding and strengthened relations are promoted;
4. Knowledge about the fundamental mechanisms and procedures governing the EU among UK international relations experts is enhanced;
5. EU positions on shared global concerns and challenges are explained to British target audiences and perception gaps on global and regional issues are identified and documented;
6. The ability for EU and UK think tanks with a global reach to influence the debate beyond Europe on emerging and complex global issues is enhanced.

Budget: 2,400,000 (EUR)
