EU and Mexico mark Pride Month with a Pride Cabaret at Europe House

Bringing together members of the diplomatic community, civil society organisations, cultural partners and friends, the evening transformed Europe House into a colourful space dedicated to diversity, inclusion and equality.

Opening the event, EU Ambassador to the United Kingdom Pedro Serrano reflected on the significance of Pride Month:

 “At the heart of every democracy lies a simple principle: no society can be complete without equality, dignity and the full inclusion of all its people”.

Highlighting the European Union’s commitment to LGBTQI+ rights, Ambassador Serrano underlined that respect for human dignity, freedom, equality and human rights are among the values on which the EU was founded.

The evening also provided an opportunity to highlight the EU Delegation's wider engagement during and beyond Pride Month. The Delegation is preparing to take part in the London Pride Parade on 4 July with its largest presence to date, including a dedicated float and colleagues from across the European diplomatic community marching together in celebration and solidarity.

Guests enjoyed an evening of performances celebrating culture, creativity and diversity. The programme featured drag artist Solana Beach, actress Patricia Langa presenting an artistic interpretation of Federico García Lorca’s poetry, and musicians Theo Lucas and Amaya Pitharas, whose performance blended cultural influences from across Europe.
