The European Affairs Societies Network meets in Manchester

The Network, which is made up of European Societies from Universities across the country, meets three times every academic term, and this was its first meeting in the North of England.

The Network has just recently welcomed the European Affairs Society from Queen´s University Belfast, which now brings the number of societies who make up the network to twenty one.

Each Network meeting has an overarching theme, and while the previous meeting at the University of Westminster focused on Climate Change in an Electoral year, in this occasion the focus was on the Union programmes Horizon and Erasmus+.

The meeting was chaired by Viktoria Genova, President of the YEM Manchester student society. The EU Deputy Ambassador, Nicole Mannion, and Prof. Dimitris Papadimitriou, Director of the Manchester Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, closed the Network meeting.
The Network Members are: Anglia Ruskin University, Bath, Queen´s University Belfast, Birmingham, Brighton, Cambridge, Cardiff, City University of London, Durham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, King's College London, Leeds, LSE, Manchester, Newcastle, Oxford, Queen Mary University London[i], UCL (two societies), Warwick and Westminster.
Students from other universities including Manchester Metropolitan, Liverpool and Sheffield also attended the meeting. They are considering establishing European Affairs societies next academic year.

The next Network meeting will take place after the summer as part of a broader EU youth dialogue.
