Our group of esteemed panelists will discuss how the death penalty is broken, its repercussions for society, and possible pathways for healing and advocacy. Herman Lindsey, an exonoree who endured three years on Florida’s death row, will share his experience and current work with criminal justice reform organizations. Jonathan Mann, a co-victim whose father was murdered in 2017, will explain his personal evolution from being pro-death penalty to becoming the Vice Chair of Ohioans To Stop Executions. Finally, Maha Jweied from the Responsible Business Initiative for Justice will discuss why these stories are vital in the fight toward death penalty abolition in the U.S. and globally.

The European Union champions the abolition of the death penalty around the world. Across the United States, the EU and EU Member States like Sweden work to raise public awareness, support national networks, monitor the use of the death penalty, and advocate for legal reform and for the stay of executions.
