Transatlantic Sustainable Transition Initiative

The European Union, represented by the European Commission, has launched the procurement for a partnership and cooperation opportunity in the United States, concerning green policy priorities. The action aims to accelerate progress on the European Green Deal objectives by facilitating change in the US at the sub-national level on three topic areas:

  1. sustainable agriculture and the transition toward a sustainable food chain,
  2. energy efficiency and conservation in buildings, and
  3. circular economy.

Proposed project activities (not an exhaustive list):  a) programme for emerging leaders in agriculture/young farmers in the US and EU, to enhance their understanding of sustainable agricultural policies and green deal priorities; b) initiative to foster state and local energy-efficient codes and policies for buildings, encouraging consumer energy savings, local green economy development, and European goods/services opportunities; c) multi-stakeholder dialogues to advance policy shifts and build support for a circular economy at the state and local level.
