Awards Ceremony for the 2025 Drawing Contest

This year’s contest aimed to encourage Uruguayan children to explore the theme indicated in its title, as well as to deepen their knowledge of the European Union, in the context of the Europe Day celebrations (May 9). It is worth noting in this regard that the European Union is the world’s leading promoter of renewable energies, which are central to its environmental protection policies and its fight against climate change.
A total of 220 drawings were received from 172 schools across 16 departments.
The jury was made up of three drawing teachers who teach 5th and 6th grade primary students, the age group of the participants. They were Claudia Aintablian, Alicia Spagnuolo, and Santiago Marino.
Given the high quality of many of the drawings submitted, the jury’s decision was a close one, but in the end, 10 finalist drawings were selected: three by children from Paysandú, three from Salto, one from Canelones, one from Montevideo, one from Rivera, and one from Soriano.
Among these top 10 were:
- Luisina Acosta Berocay, 6th grade, School No. 93, Paysandú;
- Ailen Cardozo Kosolap, 6th grade, School No. 98, Salto;
- Gregorio Domínguez Carriquiry, 6th grade, School No. 34, Soriano;

- Mayte Lissio Pérez, 6th grade, School No. 104, Canelones;
- Yenifer Rodríguez Correa, 6th grade, School No. 120, Salto.
All of them received a certificate of recognition signed by the Ambassador of the European Union.
The authors of the four best drawings were awarded at a prize-giving ceremony held in Montevideo. Among them, three received special mentions from the jury:
- Celeste Carcavallo Paredes, 6th grade, School No. 88, Montevideo;
- Thiago Irigoyen Díaz, 6th grade, School No. 13, Paysandú;
