Inauguration of the Urban Beekeeping project at the EU Delegation headquarters

The Uruguayan Beekeeping Society has the support of the Montevideo government.

"Urban Beekeeping", a project of the Uruguayan Beekeeping Society, was inaugurated on 12 November at EU Delegation premises, with the installation of two beehives.

The event was attended by EU Ambassador Paolo Berizzi, French Ambassador Jean-Paul Seytre, and representatives from the Montevideo government and the Uruguayan Beekeeping Society.

Project "Urban Beekeeping" started in 2020, with two hives being installed at French Embassy premises and another two at the residence of the French Ambassador, with the endorsement of the Governor of Montevideo. Its objective is to promote urban pollination through the work of bees, which are responsible for the pollination of more than 80% of wild crops and plants. It also aims to encourage the urban production of honey and other products derived from bees, such as propolis, royal jelly and beeswax.
