Signing of contract with ANONG

For the first time a cooperation agreement was signed between the European Union and Uruguay's National Association of Development-oriented NGOs.

On Thursday 7 November at the headquarters of the EU Delegation to Uruguay, the official signing of the contract between the European Union (EU) and the National Association of Development-oriented NGOs (ANONG) took place, by which the EU will support ANONG with €400,000 for the implementation of the "Fortalecer, Participar, Incidir" ("Strengthen, Participate, Incide") programme.

The aim of the programme is to contribute to the sustainable development of the country within the framework of the 2030 agenda, by strengthening the active and proactive participation of organized civil society, its networks and coalitions to impact on the creation, execution and monitoring of public policies with a human rights approach.

This is the first time that the EU and ANONG sign a cooperation agreement favouring civil society organizations in Uruguay. The intention is to deepen the dialogue with Uruguayan civil society and contribute to its strengthening as development actors and as partners to reach sustainable development goals.

The programme will cost a total of €450,000, of which the European Union contributes €400,000. The resources will be destined to training, support for the participation of civil society and monitoring of progress in terms of sustainable development goals. Its expected duration is 3 years.
