EU and UNODC working together to address migrant smuggling

"Addressing smuggling of migrants requires close cooperation & coordination. The EU is grateful for good partnership with UNODC, Egypt, Pakistan and all others who launch concrete actions to support Global Alliance to Counter Migrant Smuggling", EU Ambassador Carl Christian Hallergård, Permanent Observer of the European Union to the United Nations in Vienna

In the margins of the 33rd session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ),  the EU and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) co-organized a high-level side event to showcase the achievements and concrete outcomes of the more than 15 year-long fruitful partnership in combating migrant smuggling.

This phenomenon remains one of the most prevalent forms of transnational organized crime and a major global challenge.

Further information on the event can be found on the UNODC website
