Producing and trading Vietnamese pepper sustainably

On 20 November the project "Scaling sustainable production and trade of Vietnamese pepper" was officially wrapped up in Dak Lak.
Funded by the EU and the IDH and implemented between 2021–2023 in the Central Highlands provinces Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Gia Lai, the project has brought about significant benefits to farmers and other stakeholders of Vietnam’s pepper sector, including:
The use of banned pesticides has been reduced by 98%;
Livelihoods of nearly 8,000 pepper smallholder farmers have been improved;
12 leading Vietnamese pepper production and export enterprises and cooperatives participated in the project;
7 world top-end buyers of spices made commitment to support Vietnam’s sustainable pepper production and trade.
The project was implemented within the framework of the EU-funded ARISE+ programme. ARISE+ supports Vietnamese government to attain benefits from bilateral trade commitments, focusing on the implementation of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (#EVFTA).
