Today, Ambassador Hans Grundberg presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Yemen, Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi, as the Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Yemen.

Ambassador Grundberg is a career diplomat with experience from both the Swedish and the European Union foreign services. He held several diplomatic positions in Stockholm, Brussels and the Middle East, including at the delegations of the European Union in Cairo and Jerusalem. Prior to this appointment, Ambassador Grundberg served as the head of the Gulf Division at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden.

Ambassador Grundberg said: “It is a great privilege for me to contribute to promoting the European Union's relations with Yemen and its people. I look forward to continue our active engagement with the Government of Yemen and all Yemeni actors at all levels. Our focus will continue to be on helping to alleviate the suffering of the people of Yemen, especially at these critical times. We will also continue to encourage Yemenis to come together and make concessions to find an inclusive political settlement for Yemen crisis. To this end, we will work closely with our partners and the UN Special Envoy for Yemen.”
