Collaboration between the European Union and the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen

Today, the European Union (EU) and the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Programme for Yemen (SDRPY) joined efforts to improve livelihood conditions for Yemenis, underscoring the importance of investing in economic recovery and reforms, creating jobs, reinforcing the state and fostering societal resilience, including in areas such as food security, agriculture, electricity as well as water, sanitation and hygiene. 

This EU and SDRPY collaboration will improve livelihood conditions for all Yemenis and have as first concrete result an increased access to water in Marib. 

Both the EU and SDRPY sign today a contract with Selah Foundation for Development (Selah) titled “Enhancing Water Security Using Renewable Energy Project in Marib Governorate“ with the respective amounts of EUR 1 million (EU) and SAR 4,530,466 (SDRPY). Selah foundation itself will contribute an amount of SAR 500,000.

The signature of the contract with Selah foundation, attended by HE. Mr. Mohammed bin Saeed AL JABER, General Supervisor of SDRPY, and H.E. Mr. Patrick SIMONNET, EU Ambassador to Yemen, underscores a shared endeavour to strengthening coordination, enhancing complementarity, and maximizing the impact of their interventions in Yemen.
