EU ambassadors conclude visit to Aden, Lahj

The ambassadors had an online EU HoMs meeting with PLC VP Tariq Saleh, and met in Aden with Minister of Defence Lt-Gen Mohsen al-Daeri, Minister of Planning & International Cooperation, Waed Badhib, Minister of Transport Dr Abdel Salam Humeid, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Mustafa Noman, Vice Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, Omar Banajah, Governor of Aden Ahmed Lamlas and the Chairman of the Yemeni Coast Guard, Major General Al Qamali.
During their meetings, the ambassadors reaffirmed the EU’s support for the PLC and the Government, underscoring the importance of unity and continued reforms. They discussed the specific challenges facing Aden and encouraged more efforts to improve the delivery of basic services. The delegation stressed the need for a conducive environment for humanitarian and development operations, and highlighted the importance of protecting civic space.
The EU diplomats also visited a number of EU-supported projects in both Aden and Lahaj, including Yemen Creative Hubs, Aden Fish Market, a school rehabilitation project in Lahaj and Hawta Fish Market. They also visited the Yemen Coast Guard Centre, where they were briefed on ongoing efforts to strengthen support for its operations.
The delegation met with a range of civil society actors and women representatives, reaffirming the EU’s steadfast commitment to supporting a vibrant civil society in Yemen and promoting women’s empowerment and human rights.
