EU, SEMC organise fact-checking workshop for Yemeni journalists
The sessions focused on strengthening participants’ ability to verify information, counter misinformation, and promote responsible journalism. They covered practical verification tools, digital analysis techniques, and approaches to address the growing challenges posed by disinformation in Yemen’s media landscape.
Over the two days, representatives of Yemeni fact-checking platforms delivered presentations on verification methodologies and mechanisms for detecting disinformation. Participants also discussed ways to enhance cooperation between media institutions and fact-checking platforms, as well as outlining elements of a national roadmap to curb disinformation. The workshop concluded with practical recommendations reflecting the participants’ priorities for fostering a more professional and trustworthy media environment.
This workshop highlights the EU’s commitment to supporting media freedom, reliable information, and the vital role of journalists in advancing public accountability. The EU will continue working with partners and media professionals across Yemen to strengthen the information environment and reinforce professional standards within the sector.
