EU-Africa Meetings 2022: Round table on Africa-Europe cultural relations and free concerts at Café Congo

The EU and Café Congo are organizing a round table this Thursday, June 23, 2022 on the role of culture in the Africa-Europe dialogue and the contribution of the diasporas to the development of arts and culture in Africa.

During the round table, which will bring together artists, cultural operators and representatives of the EU institutions the following questions will be discussed:

  • Actions to support culture, cultural diplomacy and the mobility of artists in Africa;
  • The way in which artists and operators perceive, based on their experiences, the role and impact of cultural cooperation in Africa – Europe relations;
  • Suggestions for improving support for culture in Africa;
  • The place and contribution of the diasporas: How can they contribute in developing the cultural and artistic sectors on the continent? How can they relay to Europe the voices and contributions of Africa?

The round table is part of the 2022 EU-Africa Meetings which aim to pursue the Africa-Europe dialogue in the wake of the EU-AU Summit of February 2022 and the Africa-Europe Week.

The debate will be followed by a festive and cheerful evening with several concerts including a performance from the Haitian artist BélO.
