Funded traineeship for young graduates at the EU Delegation to the Republic of Tajikistan
We offer:
Traineeships of up to 6 months within the following sections of the EU Delegation to Tajikistan, starting in September 2022:
- Traineeship in the Political, Press and Information Section (PPI):
The Political, Press and Information Section of the Delegation of the EU to Tajikistan follows political developments in the country and contributes to EU policy-making on bilateral and regional relations, foreign and security policy, as well as human rights and fundamental freedoms. The section maintains relations with key Tajik stakeholders, support political dialogues, organises events and visits and is responsible for public communication and outreach.
The intern will be fully embedded in the work of the section, receive direct exposure to the EU activities in Tajikistan, and will benefit a unique occasion to understand from inside the diplomatic work of an EU Delegation in a third country
Main tasks:
- Gather and monitor daily information from public sources;
- Support strategic communication on social media
- Assist in political reporting;
- Draft background notes on variety of issues;
- Contribute to administrative and protocol tasks as required;
- Assist in preparing the daily press review;
- Attend conferences and seminars upon request and report back;
- Support organisation of public events.
- Assist in designing infographics and presentation as necessary;
- Assist the staff of the Political, Press and Information Section in their daily work, as needed
- Traineeship in the Cooperation section (COOP):
The Cooperation Section of the Delegation of the EU to Tajikistan is in charge of supervising the programming, identification/formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of EU-funded cooperation programmes and projects in Tajikistan. The section's staff works closely with colleagues at EC headquarters (DG INTPA), external consultants and implementing partners (UN agencies, INGOs, IFIs) in carrying out this mission. The section has regular meetings with national stakeholders and international partners.
The intern will be fully embedded in the work of the section, receive direct exposure to the EU cooperation activities in Tajikistan, and be provided with a unique occasion to understand from inside the work of an EU Delegation in a third country.
Main tasks:
- Assistance on project management to staff in the Cooperation Section;
- Support in analysis of policy and economic developments on various topics (socioeconomic development, public finance management, digitalisation, connectivity, etc);
- Support in the development of sector specific studies and reports;
- Support with the preparation of briefings, excel tables and analyses of EU cooperation portfolio in Tajikistan;
- Attend conferences and seminars upon request and report back;
- Support organisation of public events;
- Assist in designing infographics and presentation as necessary;
- Assist the staff of the Cooperation Section in daily work, as needed.
We look for:
Qualifications or special requirements:
- Due to the very evolutive context of the COVID-19 breakthrough, applicants currently residing in [Name of the country of assignment or [in the nearby of name of the city] will only be considered
- Hold a university degree in a relevant subject area (Political Science, International Relations, Economics, etc.)
- Not more than 1 year of professional experience
- Have a proven interest in development and project management, international relations, political science, economics and/or other relevant fields;
- General knowledge and interest in Tajik politics and the human rights situation in Tajikistan;
- Communication skills, capacity and interest in social media and networking
- Excellent English language skills;
- Good Russian or Tajik language skills;
- Preparedness for teamwork and motivation;
- Excellent analytical and drafting skills;
- Ability to handle politically sensitive issues in a responsible manner;
- Tech-savviness and general ICT skills are considered to be an asset.

Important information to read before applying
Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travel inside the country of residence, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.
Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
EU candidates currently residing in Tajikistan must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation.
The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin. In assessing the applications received, account will need to be taken of the COVID-19 situation and its possible effects on access possibilities to the country of assignment and thus candidates currently residing in country of assignment might be preferred.
The Delegation informs that even if our Headquarters confirm the eligibility of the selected candidate, traineeships could be postponed, suspended or even cancelled considering the very evolving context of the COVID-19 outbreak in the host country as well as in the country of origin. The same rule apply if a selected candidate is unable to reach the country of assignment.
