G7 Leaders’ meeting following Iran’s attack against Israel

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, today chaired a video conference meeting of the G7 Heads of State and Government, which was called following Iran’s attack against Israel. Following their discussion, the G7 Leaders adopted a joint declaration that firmly condemns the launch of drones and missiles by Iran, reiterating full support for Israel’s security.

The G7 Leaders underlined the need to avoid a further escalation, calling on the parties to refrain from actions aimed at heightening tensions in the Region. To this end, the G7 Leaders called for an end to the crisis in Gaza through a cessation of hostilities and the release of hostages by Hamas. Lastly, they guaranteed that humanitarian aid would continue to be provided to the Palestinian population.
