Guatemala: Statement by the Spokesperson as EU Election Observation Mission presents its preliminary statement
Following the general elections in Guatemala of Sunday 25 June, the EU Election Observation Mission (EOM) on the ground has presented its preliminary statement on the electoral process so far, highlighting the well-organised election day, a run-up marked by exclusions and the number of null votes.
The EU EOM will remain in the country until the completion of the electoral process including the presidential run-off on 20 August 2023.
The EU EOM will continue to observe independently and carry out an assessment of the entire electoral process in the light of the international and regional standards Guatemala has subscribed to, and publish a final report including recommendations to for improvement of future processes.
