Happy ASEAN Day

8 August is ASEAN Day.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was formed 53 years ago, on 8 August 1967, to accelerate economic growth, social progress and cultural development; to promote peace and stability and close cooperation among the Southeast Asian Nations.
The EU and ASEAN have now been partners for more than 40 years and – as the world’s two most advanced regional blocs – we have been cooperating on political and security issues; on tackling the main challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and together we are pushing for sustainable and economic growth in both regions and the world.
To mark the date and wish ASEAN a happy 53rd anniversary, see our video.
