Medal Ceremony Confirms Close Cooperation

On 1 June, colleagues from the European Union Military Staff (EUMS) and the Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC) gathered in the Protocol Area of the NEO Building for a ceremony of particular significance.

The occasion marked the presentation of the Ukrainian medal "For Support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine" to a number of EUMS and MPCC personnel whose professional dedication and expertise have contributed to the European Union's support for Ukraine. The award represents a distinguished expression of gratitude from Ukraine and stands as a testament to the strong partnership that has developed through shared efforts and common purpose.

The ceremony was conducted by Major General Serhii Salkutsan, Ukrainian Military Representative, in the presence of the Director General of the EUMS and Director MPCC,Lieutenant General Michiel van der Laan and the Ukrainian Defence Attaché, Colonel Serhii Vereshcak.

As each recipient was called forward, the significance of the moment was evident. The medal was  a symbol of recognition for the commitment, professionalism, and expertise that these officers and staff members have brought to their respective responsibilities. Through their work, they have contributed to initiatives aimed at supporting Ukraine and strengthening cooperation during a period of exceptional challenge.

The presentation of the medals served as a reminder that effective support is delivered through many forms of service. Whether through planning, coordination, military expertise, or strategic advice, the collective efforts of EUMS and MPCC personnel continue to contribute meaningfully to the European Union's assistance to Ukraine.
