Six women who have left a profound mark on culture and society - our booklet

08.03.2022

On 8 March 2022, Ambassador Alexandra Valkenburg, Head of the EU Delegation in Rome participated in the International Academic Conference “Female Doctors of the Church and Patron Saints of Europe in dialogue with today’s world.”

The Conference was dedicated to six women who have left a profound mark on culture and society, including the three female Patron Saints of Europe: Brigide of Sweden, Catherine of Siena, Teresa Benedicta of the Cross.

The Delegation is proud to support this initiative with a booklet that contains the biographies of the six female doctors of the church and the Patron Saints of Europe.

The Patrons Saints of Europe were also celebrated last year in the IterEuropaeum project, a walkway of European Churches in Rome, to mark the 50 years of diplomatic relations between the EU and the Holy See.
